    Step 3: Compare Energy on the Same Definition

    Record the following separately for each quotation:

    • nominal voltage;
    • nominal Ah;
    • nominal kWh;
    • permitted state-of-charge window;
    • stated usable kWh;
    • reserve or minimum state of charge;
    • inverter conversion losses;
    • continuous discharge power;
    • short-duration surge power;
    • maximum charge power; and

    Ask both suppliers for documentation that identifies the exact product being quoted. Depending on the product, this may include:

    • manufacturer and model;

    • charge and discharge limits;
    • operating-temperature limits;
    • installation manual;

    Price is not the only commercial variable. Record:

    • stock location;
    • quantity physically available;
    • production or batch date, if relevant;
    • estimated dispatch date;
    • estimated transit time;

    • whether the product is new, sample, refurbished or previously assembled;
